I learned the hard way. I had to have emergency maintenance repairs when I least expected them due to system failure, costing me quite a bit of money. I know now they could have been prevented had I performed scheduled and preventive maintenance on my RV." Kurt Bray Length: 78 minutes |
EZ RV Upgrades DVD Endorsed by KOA and Explorer RV Insurance | By: Mark Polk Our goal with this video was to highlight products that truly benefit the RVer, protect you and your investment, and make RV ownership easier.
We wanted to include a segment in the video for the Do-It-Yourselfer, so five of the products in the video demonstrate actual hands on, step-by-step installation procedures. I felt that many RVers, like me, enjoy doing some of the work on their RV themselves. If you prefer not to do the installation you can have any reputable RV dealer install them and still benefit from the products.
We started the video by demonstrating how easy it is to install a Carefree of Colorado full view window awning. The benefits of window awnings are endless. Then to increase the ventilation in the RV we demonstrated the installation of a Maxx Air louvered window vent and a Maxx Air turbo fan. They are both easy to install with a few basic hand tools. Our next product installation was a Valterra thermostatically controlled refrigerator vent fan that is designed to increase the efficiency of your RV refrigerator. Then we discussed the Valterra battery operated fridge mate fan that goes inside the refrigerator to increase the airflow and efficiency of the refrigerator. Last but not least we replaced a standard light fixture with a Sunray tube saver fluorescent light. It improves the lighting in your RV, and their patented ballast design makes the tubes last four times longer then other fluorescent lights.
With the installation segment completed we wanted to demonstrate some other products that we felt every RVer can use and benefit from. We started with a 3-in-1 digital plug in tester called the Good Governor. It monitors campground voltage, generator frequency output and it tests polarity. If used properly it can protect thousands of dollars worth of appliances and electronic equipment in your RV.
The next product is another must have to protect you. We highlighted the complete line of Hydrolife water filters and replacement cartridges. Water filtration is extremely important and in my opinion Hydrolife has one of the best filters available to protect you from the harmful affects of bacteria and other dangerous contaminants in your drinking water.
Our next product makes a job that nobody likes to do much easier to deal with. It's called the Flush King. It's a reverse RV flush valve that's used to dump, rinse and clean your RV holding tanks in one simple operation. I always used a wand to clean the black water tank, but never really knew how clean it was. With the Flush King you know when the holding tanks are clean and it not only cleans the black tank, but the gray tank too.
Next we demonstrated Thumb Lock grips and Versaties by Fastening Solutions. These inexpensive and easy to use fasteners will protect expensive items like TVs and personal computers from falling and getting damaged while traveling.
The next couple of products are by Roadmaster Inc. I included them because they solve some problems that I constantly encounter. The first one is a hitch accessory called the roller hitch. It fits in all 2-inch receivers and eliminates the back end of my motor home from scraping the ground when you go from a flat surface to an incline. The second product is called the Roadwing. It's a removable mud flap system that installs on your tow vehicle or motor home in a couple of minutes and protects what ever you're towing from damage caused by rocks, gravel and road debris. When you're not towing you simply remove it.
The last product is another one that every RV should have. Lynx levelers and their all-new Stop & Chock. This is the only leveling system you'll ever need. They have multiple uses, their inexpensive, safe, and easy to use.
"Mark, I have several of your videos and they are great. So far, I have used most of the items you show in the EZ RV Upgrade video. Just before I received your video I was just about to have my dealer install two window awnings. After watching you I did the job myself and it worked just the way you said and saved me much money. And, most of the items I would have never tried to do before the videos. Thanks, Cougar by Keystone owner, Bob Jacobs

RV Awning Use, Care & Maintenance DVD
By: Mark Polk ...Plus how to install a window awning in six easy steps. If you have been around RV's, you have probably heard many horror stories about RV awning mishaps. There was the camper who didn't lower one end of the awning to allow for water run-off and the weight of the water, during a steady rain, tore the awning fabric from the side of the RV. There was the camper who decided to leave the awning out while they headed to the beach for a couple of hours. When they returned to the campsite they discovered the awning hardware and fabric was on top of the RV, due to a strong gust of wind from a storm that suddenly moved in. There was the camper, which in this case was me, who was driving down the Interstate and the awning tried to unfurl as we were traveling. In my own self defense it was because of a defective awning lock on our new RV at the time. And there was Robin Williams in the movie "RV" who left the campground with the awning still out, in an attempt to make a hasty retreat from his pesky neighbors. There are many other campers with many other awning horror stories to tell. My goal with this e-book is to make sure you are not one of those campers, with one of those awning stories to tell around the campfire. The good news is the awnings on your RV can and will provide many years of reliable trouble-free operation, if we take the time to properly care for and maintain our RV awnings. RV Campground Basics DVD
By: Mark Polk
I have always said if you're going to buy an RV you need to use it; otherwise it is nothing more than a large and expensive lawn ornament. Where to go and what to do when you get there, can be confusing until you have a few RV trips under your belt. There is a lot to learn about public and private campgrounds and RV parks, and the more you know, the better your camping experience will be. You need to determine how you plan to use your RV, where you plan to use your RV, and explore all of your options. How do you find these campgrounds, RV parks and RV resorts? Should you make reservations before leaving on a trip? How do you register when you arrive? What kind of site should you request? Do you need a partial hook up or a full hook up? What does campground etiquette mean? How do you determine the right camping club for you? The purpose of this e-book is to answer all of these questions and much more. "The complex RV Campground Basics by Mark Polk provides a comprehensive overview of the many varied camping spots available, contact info and how to find the perfect spot for your next getaway. Finally, all the facts on this subject are in one publication". Peggi McDonald author of "RV Living in the 21st Century" Deep Cycle Batteries DVD
By: Mark J. Polk Show me an RVer or boater who hasn't had problems with deep cycle batteries and I'll show you someone who hasn't been RVing or boating for very long. In most cases, problems related to deep cycle batteries are usually a result of not understanding what is involved to properly maintain and care for lead acid batteries. 85% of all 12 volt batteries manufactured in the United States die before they should. Our Deep Cycle Battery Care & Maintenance E-book was designed to help extend the life of your deep cycle batteries and to save you money. With a little routine preventive maintenance your deep cycle batteries can and will last as long as they should. This E-book includes sections on understanding lead acid batteries, battery ratings, battery types, sizes and configurations, battery maintenance, testing, charging, storage and more. RV Safety Features Tips & Tricks DVD
By: Mark Polk It is extremely important that RV owners understand all of the safety features on their RV, and how to properly use this safety equipment. The majority of RVers don't know that there are between 6,500 and 20,000 reported RV fires each year, and that an RV can burn completely to the ground in as little as six minutes! These same RVers need to know what type of fire extinguisher to use on what type of fire, and how to properly use a fire extinguisher? Another disturbing fact is that carbon monoxide is the number one cause of poisoning deaths in the United States each year? RVers, in particular, need to understand what the symptoms for carbon monoxide poisoning are, and what to do if somebody is exposed to it? Other important RV safety topics covered in this e-book include; LP gas system safety, water system safety & electrical system safety, RV emergency escape plans, RV emergency weather planning, getting there safely, RV travel security and more.
